Potential for Progressive Refinement

Fractal systems naturally support iterative refinement.

When decoding begins:

the image appears rough and incomplete,

but successive iterations gradually improve quality.

This progressive convergence behavior can be useful in:

low-bandwidth transmission,

remote image previewing,

or progressive rendering systems.

Users can initially see a coarse approximation and then watch the image stabilize over time.

This was conceptually similar to later progressive image formats and streaming methods.
