Fractal systems naturally support iterative refinement.
When decoding begins:
•the image appears rough and incomplete,
•but successive iterations gradually improve quality.
This progressive convergence behavior can be useful in:
•low-bandwidth transmission,
•remote image previewing,
•or progressive rendering systems.
Users can initially see a coarse approximation and then watch the image stabilize over time.
This was conceptually similar to later progressive image formats and streaming methods.
