When conventional images are enlarged:

•block boundaries,

•ringing,

•or pixelation

often become obvious.

Fractal-generated enlargements can maintain:

•smoother contours,

•more coherent textures,

•and more visually continuous detail.

Even when true detail is not actually recovered, the generated result may appear more visually natural than naïve enlargement techniques.
